Although
a member of the Republican Party, Ted Cruz is what I consider a true
conservative. He is religious and holds the belief that the constitution should
be upheld, including the rights that individuals are granted from its existence
(Wikipedia, 2017).  He supports items such as free trade,
downsizing the federal government, abolition of Internal Revenue Service,
implementation of a single tax for all citizens, the death penalty, USA Freedom
Act, school choice and gun rights (Wikipedia, 2017).  He opposes higher minimum wage, Obama Care,
same-sex marriage, legalization of marijuana. Net neutrality and immigration
reform. In 2013, Cruz voted against the Manchin-Toomey Amendment that sought to
make gun laws stricter and require additional background checks for consumers
purchasing firearms at gun shows (Wikipedia, 2017).
