The tower bridge was opened on the 30th June
1894. The architect was Horace Jones. To allow ships to pass through (because
the bridge is above water) the centre will rise up. Over 40, 000 people used
the bridge everyday, isn’t that amazing? Although the bridge is admired a lot,
in the past it was heavily criticised. Over 400 workers helped to make the
Tower Bridge and a whopping 70,000 tons or more were used to support it. The
bridge is 244 meters long and each of the two towers, 65 meters high.
