The Golden Rule is a moral principle given by Jesus of Nazareth and summarized as “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. In other words, treat others in a way you want to be treated. The Golden Rule does not say which kind of actions are good, which are bad, instead, it is a method to determine the morally correct action (Goul,1983:73). Phrases similar in meaning to The Golden Rule appear in all ethical traditions as well as in Abrahamic religions according to academic philosopher Simon Blackburn. For centuries, The Golden Rule has been a guide to divide good from bad (Cunningham,1998:105).From my point of view, The Golden Rule is a good method to make people think before acting. If they repeat in their minds this phrase before acting, I think people would act in a different way. Also, this rule improves person’s ability to emphasize. Moreover, considering that there are not much universal truths about how people should or should not act, sometimes people need moral “line of action” (Goul,1983:73). Having a method or a principle that facilitates decision making helps people choose their own right and wrong, but also follow moral standards. Not all people may agree with some ethical rules, but it is my opinion that nobody would oppose The Golden rule.  References:En.wikipedia.org. (2018).
